Kings of Fitness · Initial Assessment

A better athlete starts with understanding you.

Your body. Your sport. Your goals. We start by understanding how you move, what you need, and where you want to go. Then we build a plan to help you get there.

Your Starting Point

Four steps. One plan built around you.

You don't need to know what to work on before you walk in. That's what the assessment is for.

STEP 01

First, we get to know you.

We talk about your sport, goals, training history, past injuries, current aches or limitations, and where you are in your season. Your starting point matters.

Your history Your goals Your season
STEP 02

We look at how you move.

With VALD HumanTrak, your coach can assess key movement patterns, mobility, and control. We look for areas that may be limiting you and help you understand what they mean.

Movement Mobility Control
STEP 03

We measure what you can do.

Using VALD testing equipment and Proteus, when appropriate, we measure qualities such as strength, jumping, and rotational power. Your tests are selected for your needs, not just because the technology is available.

Strength Power Performance
STEP 04

You leave with a direction.

Your coach connects the findings to a clear training plan. You'll understand what to prioritize, why it matters, and how your training can progress toward your goals.

Your priorities Your training plan Your next steps
It's About You, Not Just Your Numbers

The same test doesn't tell the same story for everyone.

A high school baseball player preparing for tryouts has different needs than a hockey player in the middle of a season. An athlete returning from an injury has a different starting point than someone looking to reach a new personal best.

That's why your assessment is guided by a coach with a master's degree in health science and human performance, not just a set of test results.

We consider the full picture.

  • Your sport and position
  • Your current season and upcoming competition
  • Past injuries, current symptoms, and training limitations
  • Your goals, experience, and training schedule
  • Your movement, strength, and power results
  • What you need most right now to make progress
The Tools Behind Your Assessment

See more. Understand more. Train with purpose.

We use sports science technology to help answer practical questions about your performance. Your coach explains the results in plain language and connects them to your training.

Movement Assessment

VALD HumanTrak

A camera-based movement assessment that helps us examine how you move through key positions. We can look at mobility, movement patterns, and control to help identify areas worth addressing.

Strength & Jump Testing

VALD ForceDecks & ForceFrame

ForceDecks measures how you produce force during tests such as a vertical jump. ForceFrame helps measure strength in specific positions, including hip and shoulder testing when relevant.

Rotational Performance

Proteus

A resistance and measurement system that helps us assess how you produce power through movements in multiple directions, including sport-relevant rotational patterns.

Hamstring Strength

VALD NordBord

Measures hamstring strength during a Nordic hamstring test. The results can help guide hamstring training and highlight differences worth considering alongside your history and other findings.

Not every athlete needs every test. The coach selects the assessments that best fit your age, experience, goals, health history, and sport. Results support coaching decisions; no single measurement diagnoses an injury or guarantees injury prevention.

Your Sport. Your Priorities.

What this can look like for your sport.

The assessment changes based on what your sport asks of you. These are examples of the questions we may explore together.

Baseball

How well can you produce rotational power? Are there mobility, strength, or control priorities that could support your throwing and hitting demands?

Softball

How do you create power through your hips and trunk? What should you focus on to support sprinting, hitting, throwing, and changing direction?

Hockey

How do your lower-body strength, single-leg control, and power relate to the demands of accelerating, skating, and competing through a long season?

Football

How do you produce force, jump, and accelerate? Which strength and movement qualities deserve attention for your position and stage of development?

Golf

How do your mobility, trunk control, and rotational power support your swing? Where could improved strength or movement capacity help your training?

Every Athlete

You don't have to play a specific sport. We can also focus on building strength, moving better, returning to training, or feeling more capable in everyday life.

From Assessment to Action

Information is useful. Knowing what to do with it is what matters.

We don't test you just to hand you a score. Your coach uses the findings to help determine where to start, what to prioritize, and how your program should fit your life and sport.

The goal is a plan that makes sense to you and gives you a practical path forward.

1
Understand your starting point Know your current strengths and the areas we want to develop.
2
Set your priorities Focus on the qualities that matter most for your needs and goals.
3
Build your training plan Match your programming to your schedule, season, and training experience.
4
Track progress over time Use coaching feedback and appropriate retesting to guide your next steps.

You don't need to have everything figured out. You just need a place to start.
